Copilot CLI with Omarchy skill fixes old Intel Mac touchpad issues
Developer Dan Wahlin spent about 30 minutes with Omarchy (Hyprland) on an old Intel Mac and used GitHub Copilot CLI with the Omarchy skill to generate custom input.lua config via conversation, fully fixing touchpad palm-touch issues and even tracing and fixing a GPU problem he didn't know about.
Confirmed
- The core fix for cursor jumping while typing is setting touchpad.disablewhiletyping = true
- The same Copilot-generated config maps 3-finger and 4-finger horizontal swipes to switch workspaces
- Within roughly 30 minutes, Copilot CLI also handled theme and workspace configuration, and the touchpad became practical again; the issue is now fully resolved and he notes any customization can be done by asking Copilot
- User @AviRecord reported a similar experience on an old Intel Mac, generating a custom input.lua fix with Copilot CLI and the Omarchy skill for the same palm-touch problem
Why it matters
- The case shows AI coding assistants combined with distro-specific skills can handle niche window-manager (Hyprland) configuration without users knowing the config syntax
- Touchpad experience is a common pain point for putting Linux desktops on old Macs; this reusable fix offers a direct reference
