MarinDNA's 1B Model Matches Evo 2 40B at 1/1980 the Compute
MarinDNA reports that a 1B-parameter standard Transformer, trained with optimized data mixtures, hyperparameter transfer and scaling laws, matches the 40B Evo 2 on variant effect prediction while using about 1/1980 of the compute.
