US Hosts First 6-Foot Humanoid Robot Fighting Match

On August 16, the US held its first-ever 6-foot humanoid robot fighting match, with @beffjezos posting multiple live videos and declaring the event open. The next day he revealed plans to globalize the sport through an open-source RL simulation environment.

Confirmed

@beffjezos announced the start of the first US match of this category on August 16, sharing videos of equipped robots fighting in the ring.
@zealcaiden called the event historic; a repost noted REK2 showcased the first 6-foot robot fight in US history.
@ccerrato147 shared a livestream link.
@cixliv said it was the first such match in the West and the first global competition with Japan, noting current robots are fragile "glass cannons."
@beffjezos confirmed he is building a global robot fighting sport, planning to add dodging, blocking and locking mechanics plus an open-source RL simulation environment.
From the San Francisco venue, he observed the 6-foot robots look more violent live than on video, and Unitree G1 still has the most refined motion.

Unconfirmed

Organizer, venue, robot models and match results are not disclosed; REK2's identity remains unclear.

Why it matters

Bloggers see it as a landmark for physical robot combat entertainment; the open-source RL simulation could lower global participation barriers, and the robots' fragility points to the next technical iteration in defense.
