OpenAI and Anthropic Accelerate Model Launches

Posts tracking frontier labs suggest model release cycles are compressing sharply. OpenAI appears to have gone from roughly one major family a year in 2018–2020 to about two a year in 2022–2024, and eight releases by July 8, 2025, while Anthropic reportedly accelerated from one launch every 2–2.5 months to five launches in five months.
